World IP Day 2023 focused on the theme "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity". The purpose of this theme was to highlight the role of women in driving innovation and creativity and the importance of ensuring that women's contributions are recognized and protected through intellectual property rights.Various events were held globally to celebrate this theme, with organizations and institutions promoting the role of women in the IP field. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized a virtual event that brought together women innovators, IP experts, and policymakers to discuss the challenges faced by women in the field and the opportunities for empowering women in the IP system.

The celebration of World IP Day 2023 also provided an opportunity to highlight the gender gap that exists in the IP system. Despite the significant contributions of women to innovation and creativity, they remain underrepresented in the IP system, both as creators and beneficiaries of intellectual property rights.
