Saraswati Pooja, Basant Panchami and Ash Wednesday
Basant Panchami is a time for cultural activities, including recitations, dance, and music, to seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The festival also emphasizes the value of lifelong learning and the pursuit of knowledge, inspiring devotees to work hard and persistently in their education and artistic endeavors.
Ms. Sanskruti Kurale recited the Saraswati Katha. Then all the assembled students and faculty members sang the Saraswati Mantra to mark the occasion.
Dr Niji Shajan explained that the day also marks the ‘Ash Wednesday’ observed across the world by Christians. It signifies the start of Lent - period of time to be observed with self-sacrifice, prayer and other religious activities leading up to Easter - when Jesus Christ rose from the dead to sit at the right hand of God ‘You are Dust and To Dust Thou It Shall Be’
A perfect blend of Religious Diversity was exhibited on this day.
